Employee perks you won't believe!
Lunchtime yoga classes. Organic smoothie bars. In-office massages, haircuts, and dry-cleaning services.
Ten years ago, these might have been impressive. However, with startup culture
still developing and businesses constantly competing to outperform one another,
smoothies are beginning to feel dated.
Okay, that's not entirely fair;
the majority of us would adore receiving fruit juice and massages during lunch.
However, it doesn't follow that all workplaces have grown accustomed to
creature comforts.
The ten businesses listed below provide employees with increasingly extravagant and generous benefits. Some are absurd, others extravagant, and still others serve a higher purpose. However, they're all likely to make you consider how changing your vacation policy or bringing your favorite canine companion to work could improve morale for everyone.
1. Burton: Snowboard to Work.
The legendary snowboard company Burton encourages and even allows its staff to fully enjoy the area's powdery surroundings as if working in beautiful Vermont wasn't a perk enough. Every Burton worker receives a complimentary season pass to the nearby ski area, and everyone is encouraged to hit the slopes before work, during breaks, and on "snow days" (unscheduled company outings during snowfalls that can't be missed). 2. Spotify: Paid Egg Freezing.
Companies have long provided employees with programs to assist in securing the future of their children. However, some employers have only recently begun assisting their staff with family planning. The first two large corporations to pay for oocyte cryopreservation (egg freezing) were Apple and Facebook.
Spotify is the most recent company to offer 6 months of paid parental leave to all employees who require it, in addition to covering the cost of egg freezing and a variety of other fertility services.
3. Salesforce: Get Paid to Give Back.
The majority of businesses make
a lot of noise about giving back, but Salesforce.
actually, does it. Each
employee is given an additional 6 paid days off to participate in volunteer
work by the company. Additionally, it grants each employee $1,000 a year to
donate to a charity of their choice.
4. Google: Death Benefits.
Everyone is aware of the perks Google employees receive at work. The advantages they receive after they, uh, leave are less frequently discussed. According to Google's "Death Benefits," a deceased employee's spouse or partner will receive 50% of their salary for ten years after their passing. And according to Laszlo Bock, Google's "Chief People Officer," the benefit is available to all US Google employees, not just those in tenured positions.(www.top10.com, n.d.)
5. Goldman Sachs: Paid Gender Reassignment Surgery.
Unbelievably, the giant financial services and investment bank conglomerate has quietly evolved into one of the more progressive workplaces when it comes to gender issues. No other aspect of that policy is more blatant than its gender reassignment policy. Since 2008, the business has offered to pay for all of its employees' gender reassignment surgeries. 6. Southwest Airlines: Never Unpack.
There must be something more lovely than "free unlimited travel privileges." Southwest provides unlimited flights to all of its employees' family members, including their parents, children, and spouses. Even though the fact that some employers grant employees an unlimited number of vacation days, this may be the only job where you end up spending more on plane tickets than actual vacation time. (www.top10.com, n.d.)
7. Adobe: Mandatory Vacations.
8. Nestle Purina Pet Care: Bring Your Work to Dog Day.
Since pet-friendly workplaces are now the norm, it makes sense that a pet-food company would raise the bar a little. Or...a lot more than that. At least one 281-person attempt to break the world record for Most Pets in the Workplace in One Day was made at Purina's 55-acre campus, which has a dog park with motion-censored water fountains and hosts events with pet photo booths, "Yappy Hours," and other pet-related activities.
9. Skyscanner: Bring Your Passport to Work.
This tech company with headquarters in London employs people from more
than 35 different nations. Therefore, Skyscanner offers each employee 3 weeks
of "home country working" per year, during which they can work from
their home country or anywhere else in the world without taking time off from
work. This is despite its Silicon Valley-like offices, complete with
meditation rooms, foosball tables, and quirky decor. Of course, this is in
addition to the regular paid vacation time.
10. Ben & Jerry’s: Time to Buy a Bigger
Freezer
Forget about being an employee; anyone who interacts with a Ben & Jerry's employee will gain something from it, including partners, children, friends, cousins, aunts, uncles, babysitters, and chance acquaintances. Every day, the well-liked ice cream shop provides each employee with 3 free pints of the best-frozen frozen produce. Ben & Jerry's also provides free gym memberships to all of its employees, so you won't have to be concerned about the negative physical effects of such a tasty perk. (www.top10.com, n.d.)
The perks mentioned above are really amazing, and still a reality in the modern world.

Guys,
ReplyDeleteWhat do you think? How about your companies? Are you satisfied with the present situation?
Very attractive perks by multi-million companies. When we apply this into our county I feel it is not practical since our employees have plenty of leave in a year. Before providing perks need to increase their employee engagement towards the company. Normally20% of people do 80% of work. First we need to focus on 80% of people who do only 20% of work
ReplyDeleteAgreed ..........almost.
